Unlike the Bond girls, no woman has ever been shown in a bikini: Vanessa Kirby
LOS ANGELES, July 11 (IANS) Vanessa Kirby, who will appear in Tom Cruise’s upcoming action-thriller Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, said after being cast in the 2018 film Mission: Impossible – Fallout, that no actress will be seen in the franchise. “Mission: Impossible” wearing a bikini.
According to FemaleFirst, the 35-year-old star said times have changed since the days of the Bond girls who were often seen wearing different styles of bikinis in the action-packed spy franchise films.
However, when speaking of her role or that of her co-stars like Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson, and Pom Klementieff in “M:I 7,” viewers “barely see their wrist” in the film’s Let Alone Bikini.
As reported by FemaleFirst, while speaking to ITV’s “Lorraine,” the actress said: “The best journey to movies is when you have this really intense and immersive experience as a family, and obviously I was the last time, together again is lovely.”
She added, “There are some amazing women in this. Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson, Pom Klementieff, we really bonded like brothers. They’re just so fierce. I don’t think you can barely see our wrists, let alone a bikini. We’d never wear a bikini in these movies.”
Tom Cruise’s stunt work in Dead Reckoning Part One is one of the biggest highlights of the movie and has left both the audience and even the cast and crew in awe, with some earlier saying it’s because the actor insists on doing all the dangerous stunts on his own. They are afraid of either being seriously injured or even dying.
Speaking of the Top Gun: Maverick star’s incredible work on the film, Vanessa said Tom filmed the sequence eight times in one day, and left the crew “shivering” because they were afraid something was going wrong.
“It’s crazy,” she said, “and he did it eight times in one day. We were watching him do it, and the crew were shaking. Because they were so nervous. We’d see Tom fly off a cliff. We were all more scared than he was. He was so calm, And so present. He just loves it. He’s always way ahead of himself, and that’s a pleasure.”
Vanessa added that Tom has been filming an even scarier stunt ahead of the “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2” movie, which is set for release in June 2024.
She added, “He really (outdid himself). They were shooting an airplane sequence in Africa, and he really outgrew that scene.”
‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One’ will hit theaters on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
