The incident occurred on the road between Sofia and Varna. According to the website sportal.bg, a car driven by Ferario Spasov collided with another sports car traveling at nearly 150 km/h. Its driver was a 24-year-old.

The Bulgarian coach died on the spot. The whole situation took place when the 61-year-old was returning home after the match of his team – Dunav Lom. These tragic events were allegedly caused by the failure to adjust the speed to the wet road surface after rain.

Spasov started his football career in 1979 and ended in 1993. During it, he represented only two clubs: the above-mentioned Liteks Lovech and Spartak Pleven.

After hanging up his cleats, he focused on coaching. He led teams such as: Olimpik Teteven, Spartak Varna, Liteks Lovech or CSKA Sofia. His CV also included a job as coach of the Bulgaria U-17 national team.

In addition, he got a job at the Bulgarian Football Association, where he became a full-time employee.
