Thunderstorms likely in UP 40 areas Thursday

LUCKNOW, July 13 (IANS) The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of thunderstorms with lightning in isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, while heavy rains are likely in isolated places in the western and eastern parts of the state from Thursday.

Thunderstorms with lightning are likely in more than 40 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Gorakhpur, Lakhimpur Khiri, Sitapur, Unnao, Rai Bareilly, Agra and adjoining areas.

According to the Met’s office, it will continue to rain in the state through July 15.

Moderate to heavy rain/thunderstorm spells are likely in Lucknow.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33 and 27°C, respectively.

The Met department has issued an orange alert for Kushinagar, Maharajang, Siddharth Nagar and adjoining areas. Orange alert for precipitation between 115.6mm and 204.4mm per day.

According to IMD, heavy rains are likely over Deoria, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Ayodhya, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Mainpuri and nearby areas.

Meanwhile, a 52-year-old woman died in a rain-related accident as heavy rain continued to drench parts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, officials said.

Sarla Devi died after the roof of her house collapsed in Kota village in Nagla district of Saharanpur.
