KOLKATA, April 10 (IANS) Three people were killed in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district when a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a bicycle collided head-on.

The accident happened late Sunday night.

Of the three dead, two people have been identified as Subrata Burman and Ratan Burman. Both of them were traveling by bicycle. District police officials said the identity of the third victim, who was traveling in the same vehicle, is not yet known.

The four-wheel-drive vehicle was seized by the Dinhata Local Police Station police.

It was learned that the three victims were traveling from Dinhata towards Setai. When they came to a hairpin turn at Rathbury Crossing, their carriage was hit by the car traveling from the opposite direction.

The locals claimed that many accidents occur at that spot due to the sharp bend. They also claimed that despite repeated appeals, the local administration has not taken any initiative to provide any solution.

Additional Police Inspector of Cooch Behar Kumar Sunny Rah told the media that the bodies of all three victims had been sent for autopsy to the district hospital.
