The Palestinian Prime Minister criticizes the US failure to revive the Palestinian-Israeli peace process

RAMALLAH, July 12 (IANS) Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Ishtay criticized the United States for not putting forward any initiative to revive the Palestinian peace process with Israel, which has been stalled since 2014.

“US President Joe Biden and his administration are the only American president and administration that did not present any initiative to resolve the conflict (between the Israelis and the Palestinians),” Shtay said on Tuesday at the first Palestinian National Population Conference held in the West Bank. Al-Bireh City.

He added, “President Biden is also the only one who did not send an envoy for peace, and this US government plays the role of a spectator in light of the practices practiced by Israel in the Palestinian territories.”

“The Palestinians are looking for a different approach from the international community … to deal with the issue of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict,” Shtay said.

China’s state news agency Xinhua reported that the latest round of US-sponsored peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis collapsed in March 2014 over their deep divisions over Israeli settlement expansion and Palestinian statehood.

The Palestinians hope to establish an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, while Israel claims all of Jerusalem as their “indivisible capital”.
