Insomniac Games took care not only about the beautiful setting and smooth gameplay. Spider-Man 2 will debut with full 3D audio support, and not only in the case of Sony technology. Developers remembered Dolby Atmos.
Spider-Man 2 will offer players gameplay in 60 frames per second with ray tracingand additionally fans can count on an extensive story. However, Insomniac Games wants to make sure that fans of the appropriate sound will not complain about the adventure, so they have taken care to support surround sound.
James Stevenson confirmed that in response to a message from one of the players all video cutscenes received Atmos support – the director of community and marketing could not confirm that full Dolby Atmos will also appear in real time in the game, but the game is to receive “native Dolby Atmos”, so we can expect 100% use of the technology.
Mike Fitzgerald, Insomniac’s chief technology officer, also commented on the sound situation, mentioning that the audio team used state-of-the-art solutions to offer gamers an excellent experience.
Our audio team has been working with 3D soundtracks for a while on this console and they’ve really figured out how to do it really well, and they’re approaching the design of all these missions and the soundscapes for these tasks in a new way with ambisonic audio [format dźwięku przestrzennego w pełnej sferze] and positional audio for even more objects in the scene. So if you’re in the middle of the Emily-May Foundation area and you have people on different balconies and behind you, you can hear where all the sounds are coming from, with even greater effect than in our previous games.
Insomniac Games has already offered excellent sound, but Spider-Man 2 is the first game in the series that was prepared from scratch for PlayStation 5, so the developers can positively surprise us in many places.
