Shooter Skeet Gurjoat shoots a perfect 75 on day one of the National Selection Trials

NEW DELHI, April 13 (IANS) Skeet shooter Gurjoat Singh Khangura shot a perfect 75 on day one of the National Rifle Selection trials here at Dr. Karni Singh’s shooting range.

While Gurjuat of Punjab led the men’s field of 26 shooters, Ms. Ghanamat Sekhon led the women’s field of 20 skeet with 72 points after three rounds of 25 rounds.

The shooters will return on Friday for two more qualifying rounds before the finalists are decided.

Rajasthan’s Anant Jeet Singh Naruka, who missed two targets in the second round, ended the day with a score of 73. The skeet finals world record holder Angad Veer Singh Bajwa was third with a score of 72 after missing one target in each of the three rounds.

In the women’s event, India’s top seed Ganemat started with a perfect 25 but missed two birds in the second round and one in the third, followed by Raisa Dhillon and Parinaz Dhaliwal with 71 each.

Among the juniors, Raiza was leading the women’s event with a score of 71 while Harmihar Lali was leading the men’s competition with an identical point.
