Seven states have reported a large number of Covid cases

NEW DELHI, April 7 (IANS) A review meeting chaired by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia on Friday noted that seven states have reported a high number of Covid cases in India with high test positivity rate, which includes Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. and Tamil Nadu and Haryana.
In meeting with health ministers of various states and union territories, Mandaviya stressed the importance of strengthening public awareness campaigns regarding adherence to appropriate Covid behaviour.
State health ministers have been advised to personally monitor and review the preparations of all logistics and infrastructure, including the availability of sufficient dedicated hospital beds, along with ensuring adequate stocks of essential medicines.
Countries have also been asked to regularly update their Covid data on the dedicated portal.
The meeting also discussed the global situation of the Covid virus and the domestic scenario
States/UTs were reminded of the joint advisory issued by the Federal Ministry of Health and the International Center for Forensic Medicine (ICMR) on March 25, which called for revitalizing the public health response to contain the wave of seasonal influenza and Covid cases through early detection, isolation, testing and timely management. From suspected and confirmed cases to the detection and containment of outbreaks of new SARS-CoV-2 variants.
Mandaviya asked states/UTs to ensure effective implementation of the same.
There was a thorough and detailed discussion on various aspects of managing Covid, including ramping up hospital infrastructure, increasing testing etc.
India reported 6,050 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours while the number of active cases reached 28,303 on Friday.
