Schwarzenegger pumps iron, flaunting strength weeks before turning 76
LOS ANGELES, July 12 (IANS) Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger was recently seen lifting weights at a gym in Los Angeles just weeks before he celebrated his 76th birthday.
However, he was obviously still practicing as if he was training for Mr. He even got his workout on his way to work on his bike, Mirror.co.uk reports.
The former California governor has been working out his arms while sitting on a bench press with an exercise machine. He paid no attention to the other gym-goers because he was wearing an all-black T-shirt, black shorts, black trainers, and black calf-length socks.
In typical Terminator fashion, he also wore tinted sunglasses the entire time.
While riding the bike, Arnold wore a blue zip-up jacket with an orange, red, and white logo. He also seems to keep his hair a brown color while his beard and mustache appear to be naturally white.
The gym in Venice Beach, where he was seen working out, was the first gym where Arnold trained upon his arrival in the United States. He was trained by Joe Weider, creator of the Mr. Olympia bodybuilding competition. Arnie later went on to win the Mr. Olympia title seven times.
He began his career as a bodybuilder, taking up the sport at the age of 15 in his native Austria. At the age of 20, he won the Mr. Universe bodybuilding competition after placing second the previous year.
He said, “The title of Mr. Universe was my ticket to America, the land of opportunity, where I could become a star and make my fortune.” He has won a total of three Mr. Universe competitions.
It’s no surprise that the bodybuilder-turned-actor first came to attention with the 1977 bodybuilding movie Pumping Iron. Since then, he has been in several movies such as Conan the Barbarian to Jingle All The Way.
Arnold took a break from acting to become Governor of California in 2003. In 2011, he reached his term limit and returned to acting.
2011 is also the year when Arnold’s secret son was announced. It is revealed that Joseph Baena is his son with former housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena.
Joseph is following in the footsteps of his famous father with a love of bodybuilding and acting in an upcoming movie called Called to Duty.
