Ryan Gosling’s house is full of “avalanche” Barbies

LOS ANGELES, July 13 (IANS) Hollywood star Ryan Gosling said his house was filled with an “avalanche” of Barbie merchandise before he ended up playing Ken.

The ‘Drive’ actor, 42, who has two daughters Esmeralda, seven, and Amada, five, with his wife, actress Eva Mendes, 49, plays Barbie’s airy sidekick in Greta Gerwig’s new Barbie movie alongside Margot Robbie, 33. starring, and said he felt like he became the character once he found one of his kids’ Ken dolls abandoned in their garden, aceshowbiz.com reports.

At the European premiere of the film at London’s Cineworld in Leicester Square, he added,

“Everything Barbie landed in my house at the same time—the Barbie doll and so did the movie. It was like a Barbie meltdown, I had to count on it. One day I just picked up the Ken doll in the backyard—and the next moment, I was him.”

Director Greta, 39, who co-wrote the film with her director partner Noah Baumbach, 53, admitted at the premiere that the project sent him on an emotional roller coaster.

She added, “It’s very exciting, but I also feel this wave of likeness all the time, ‘Oh no, I’m going to cry,’ and then I’m like, ‘Don’t cry, it’s just amazing.'” But it–it’s a lot… It’s unbelievable, but it’s a lot

energy.”

Greta added that Barbie creator Mattel was a pleasure to work with, saying, “I honestly can’t believe they let us make this movie, but they were really brave and really allowed us creative freedom with their beloved brands.”
