Piotr Zieliński will have a new coach.
Leading Italian journalists unanimously report about the change of coach at Napoli. Rudi Garcia will be fired and his place will be taken by Igor Tudor.
Napoli had a disappointing start to the 2023/2024 season. The Italian champions are not scoring points like in last year’s competition, and on Sunday they recorded a disgraceful defeat against Empoli at home. Italian journalists report that this was the last meeting for Garcia as a coach of the team from southern Italy.
There was an immediate exchange of names in the media regarding the Frenchman’s possible successor. Tudor is the favorite to take over as Napoli coach. A meeting between the club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, and the Croatian coach is scheduled to take place on Monday. If the parties reach an agreement, the 45-year-old from Split will become the new coach of Piotr Zieliński and company.
Garcia replaced Luciano Spalletti at Napoli, who won the Italian championship with the club. Tudor, on the other hand, became known to a wider audience primarily as the coach of Hellas Verona. Last season he led the French Olympique Marseille.
