Nitin Gadkari inaugurates the Z-Morh Tunnel on the Srinagar-Leh Highway today

SRINAGAR, April 10 (IANS) Road Transport and National Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari arrived in Sonamarg on Monday with J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and members of parliament to visit the site of the Zagila Tunnel and the inauguration of the Ze Moreh Tunnel. On the Srinagar-Leh highway.
Gadkari is set to inaugurate the Z-Morh Tunnel which will make the tourist resort of Sonamarg an all-weather destination.
The Zagila Tunnel, which will connect the Ladakh region with the rest of the country, will remain open throughout the year and is likely to be completed by 2026.
Gadkari will also address MPs who are part of the Parliamentary Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Roads and Highways (MORTH).
The Union Minister will review the progress of work on highways and national roads in the Union Territory of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir at a high level meeting on Monday.
The members of the Parliamentary Advisory Committee will be briefed on the number of MORTH works, including National Highways and Main Roads under way in the Union Territories of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
On April 11, Gadkari, accompanied by Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh, will visit the Banihal Ramban stretch of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and inspect the progress of the work.
They will also inspect the construction site of the IMS in the sacred town of Katra in Resi district and the Katra-Delhi expressway in the afternoon.
Gadkari will return to New Delhi on the afternoon of April 11.
