National Junior C Boxing Championship: Twelve SSCB boxers storm into quarters on day three

ITANAGAR (Arunachal Pradesh), July 12 (IANS) Twelve young boxers from the Sports Services Oversight Board (SSCB) advanced to the quarter-finals on day three of the 5th National Youth Boxing Championships, here on Wednesday.

SSCB member Aakash Badawar started the day’s proceedings in the 46kg class. And he continued his brilliance, achieving another victory, 5-0; This time against Rishi Singh of Manipur.

In the 66 kg category, Prashant of SSCB showed a dominant display of speed and sharpness as he comfortably defeated Ronit Tokas of Delhi in a unanimous decision victory. On the other hand, Jasandeep (57 kg) beat Chhattisgarh’s Anch Kumar Yadav in a hard-fought 4-1 victory.

Up to six SSCB boxers have won their bouts with a referee stopping the decision contest (RSC). They include Hemant Sangwan (80+ kg), Sahil Baord (52 kg), M Kabiraj Singh (63 kg), Rahul Kundu (70 kg), Sahil (75 kg) and Hardik Panwar (80 kg).

Two boxers from Chandigarh, Nikhil Nandal (50 kg) and Armaan (57 kg), also reached the quarter-finals. While Nikhil scored a convincing 5-0 victory over Samad Sheikh of Maharashtra, Armaan didn’t have to break a sweat as Nagaland Bishal Singh was knocked down by referee stopping the contest (RSC) in the first round.

Sikandar (48kg) from Haryana dominated the first place on the third day as a result of Referee Stopping the Match (RSC) in Round 2 against M Manikanda Vishal of Tamil Nadu.
