Podbeskidzie kept a clean sheet for the first time this season, but did not win against Miedź Legnica. A draw means that Grzegorz Mokry did not meet the goal set for him.
A promising start
The game was played at quite a good pace in the first half. Both teams tried to attack the opponent high and neither team intended to defend. The guests should have taken the lead in the 3rd minute. Krzysztof Drzazga got into the penalty area too easily from the left side, passed Mateusz Ziółkowski and put the ball to the eleventh meter. Nemanja Mijusković was running there, but instead of taking a precise shot, he shot high above the goal.
Podbeskidzie had their best opportunity in this part of the game two minutes before the break. Samuel Nnoshiri, who is emerging as the new leader of the midfield, decided to shoot with his left foot from outside the penalty area, but his attempt was parried by Jakub Mądrzyk. Piotr Tomasik immediately scored, but his shot from a few meters went wide of the goal. There was little luck a moment later in added time. Tomasik’s volley shot was carried over the crossbar with great difficulty by Miedź’s goalkeeper.
The goal was not achieved
After the break, the guests from Legnica were the first to create an excellent scoring opportunity – in the 60th minute, after a corner kick, Iban Salvador jumped to the ball at 18 meters, and Patryk Procek managed to defend his powerful shot with great difficulty. The “Highlanders” responded four minutes later when, after a cross from the corner of the pitch, Bartosz Bida extended the ball with a header, and Jan Hlavica, closing the action, only hit the post with a slide tackle from close range. In added time, Damian Tront’s flat shot from a dozen or so meters was saved by Procek.
The draw means that Grzegorz Mokry did not fulfill the goal presented to him by president Bogdan Kłys a month ago – Podbeskidzie should have scored six points in the last four rounds, but only four were achieved. The candidates to replace Mokre are Pavol Stano and Dariusz Marzec.
