Michał Rachoń and sport. Upon request, Williams intervened regarding the T-shirt
Michał Rachoń is one of the faces of today’s TVP. As an employee of the pro-government media, he is one of the fiercest critics of the opposition and the government of the PO-PSL coalition, especially former Prime Minister Donald Tusk. It should not be surprising that his activity supports PiS, as he was once an activist of this party.
Rachoń can boast of considerable growth, which was visible at Tuesday’s conference of the leader of the Civic Coalition, where the presenter’s behavior caused some anxiety and confusion. Interestingly, he had previously used physical conditions in… basketball. And he was also heavily involved in tennis, which led to one unusual situation.
Rachoń has been playing basketball since childhood, and his best period was with AZS Politechnika Gdańsk. In the 2004/2005 season, he played 10 matches in the 2nd league as a player of the Pomeranian team, scoring an average of 2.5 points per match. Later he played in, among others, GTK Gdynia.
Michał Rachoń and Venus Williams in an unusual situation
In addition to his performances on the pitch, Rachoń was involved in sports in another way, co-organizing tennis events. Since the age of 16, he has been working on the Idea Prokom Open tournaments sponsored by Ryszard Krauze. He was involved in organizing the prestigious J&S Cup tournament in Warsaw, where he met the biggest stars. He served there, among others: the role of a translator.
An unusual situation occurred at a press conference before the tournament final in 2004, in which Venus Williams and Rachoń took part. One of the Polish journalists asked a seemingly innocent question about her plans to spend time before the final. The problem is that the journalist wore a T-shirt with drawings of half-naked women to the press conference.
Venus Williams immediately pointed this out to the current TVP presenter. – I would advise you to wear a different T-shirt next time for a press conference – Rachoń told the journalist.
The outraged Venus probably hoped that her interlocutor would face condemnation from other journalists. She was disappointed because they responded enthusiastically, laughing and applauding him. This irritated her even more.
However, she came out with style. — Well, I have two days until the final, I visited the Old Town and the Warsaw Zoo last year. So I’m waiting for an offer, she said with a broad smile. “Just no offense, not from you,” she added, looking at the unlucky journalist.
In the following years, Rachoń did not forget about sports, among others. one of the co-organizers of the European Women’s Basketball Championship in 2011.
