JAIPUR, May 26 (IANS) Haryana’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ally, the Janayak Janata Party (JJP), will now contest elections in Rajasthan in alliance with it, its national chief Ajay Singh Chautala said on Friday.

Chautala, who came to Jaipur on Friday to expand his party, said talks were under way at the national level with the BJP’s national president, JP Nada.

He said, “We will contest those seats in Rajasthan where BJP is weak, adding that BJP is weak in 20 to 25 seats in Rajasthan. Now, JJP will contest those seats where it is strong.”

JJP entered Rajasthan ahead of the assembly elections and formally formed its team in the state.

Prithvi Mel will be the state chief of the party and Prateik Mahriya, nephew of BJP leader Subhash Mahriya, has been appointed as the head of the youth front.

Chautala said that the Congress government led by Ashok Jillot had failed on all fronts. Now the people of the state are looking towards the third option. Whenever we contest elections, people show their trust in us,” he said, adding that his party will contest the elections on several seats including Fatehpur, Suratgarh, Kotputli, Nahar, Bhadra and Lonkaransar.

On the matter of seeing JJP as a replacement for RLP’s Hanuman Niwal, Chautala wondered if he was in a position to win today?

On the issue of alliances, newly appointed Head of State Mel said it was a matter of electoral time.
