MUMBAI, July 16 (IANS) After 25 years of shining in Hindi cinema with his movie ‘Sathya’, actor JD Chikravarthy is set to appear in the upcoming TV series titled ‘Diya’. The series is a multilingual crime thriller, telling the extraordinary story of a frozen truck driver with a dark past.
The series is directed by Pavan Sadini, and also stars Ramya Nambisan and Esha Reba in the lead roles. This crime thriller revolves around the life of Daya (played by Chekravarthy) on a fateful night when he discovers a dead woman in his truck. His life takes an unexpected turn as he gets involved in crime and bloodshed.
Daya is a reserved freezer truck driver who resides discreetly in a quaint village near the Kakinada port area. In his humble existence, he cherishes his lively wife, Alivelu, who adores him wholeheartedly.
Talking about his character, Chekravarthy said: “Dayaa is a very special project for me as it marks my debut in the Telugu OTT space. Initially, I was surprised by the concept as it is not something you think about every day”.
Diya is blessed with a brother, God Prabha, who provides invaluable assistance in his business endeavours. Daya, a man of few words, toils hard to secure a living for the betterment of his family.
“It wasn’t just the script that made me want to be a part of this story, it was a series of inspiring moments in the story that amazed me and only a director with so much ingenuity is capable of that. I am grateful to receive a character who is so layered and so detailed,” the actor added. Like Dia for this achievement in my career.”
The series, produced by SVF Entertainment, will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on August 4, 2023 in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi languages.
