NEW DELHI, April 10 (IANS) Delhi Capitals assistant coach Praveen Aamer has admitted his team must improve in playing aggressively as the David Warner-led side prepare to face the five-time Mumbai Indians in a decider. IPL 2023 Match at Arun Gately Stadium.

Delhi and Mumbai have both lost all three of their matches and two matches respectively in the competition, with Tuesday’s match offering them a chance to beat their names.

Delhi batting troubles started from power plays, the latest coming in a 57-run loss to the Rajasthan Royals, in which Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey were dismissed for ducking first on Trent Bolt.

“We have to work on our powerplay with the bat. When your top four players are running, your team is in a different position. However, we have to execute our plans well in all three sections of the game as well,” the franchise quoted Amr as saying before the game. .

Prior to the start of the tournament, Shaw was singled out by head coach Ricky Ponting for an impressive IPL 2023. But with scores of 12, 7 and 0, and a dismissal dismissed after facing discomfort against his high-pace bowling, Shaw is under pressure to pay back faith in his abilities by Delhi.

Amri hoped Shaw would come in well against Mumbai’s slender bowling line-up.

“Prithvi Shaw is a capable batsman. But yeah, he didn’t meet our expectations. We hope he fulfills us. We all know he has the ability.”

Delhi were on the wrong side of the score in their first three matches of the season and are bottom of the points table, with Mumbai in ninth position due to their superior net run rate.

Coach Amr also feels that how Delhi finishes the tournament is more important than the start, while noting that playing at home on Tuesday gives them an advantage.

“The IPL is a long tournament and we are optimistic about our chances. Sometimes it doesn’t start well, but the way we finish is more important. We are currently focused on the present and looking forward to our match against Mumbai Indians. The fact that we are playing at home is A positive point for us.
