Imran fears another deadly attack on his life during the Eid holidays

He claimed that this would be the second assassination attempt since last year’s Wazirabad attack during a long anti-government rally from Lahore to Islamabad.

Khan made the allegations during a hearing on his petition filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking directions from the concerned authorities to take no action and arrest him in relation to about 121 FIRs registered against him.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief claimed that similar to the “planned” attack in Wazirabad, they are planning another assassination attempt.

The term “they” that Khan used is what links him to the government, security and military establishment, which he accused of plotting against him to first overthrow his government and then eliminate him.

The former prime minister asked the LHC to intervene in the matter and direct the concerned authorities to refrain from arresting him to avoid what he called the “bloodshed” they had planned.

Khan also stated that the plan of the current coalition government headed by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was not to imprison him but to eliminate him.

“The situation in my residence in Zaman Park will deteriorate if I am attacked again by the police and security officials. Those who want to kill me are sitting in the government and want bloodshed, not relief.

Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar told the court that when India and Pakistan can declare a ceasefire during Muharram, “why can’t police officers be prevented from arresting Imran Khan during the Eid holidays?”

“In both the cases of Imran Khan and Shahbaz Gill, the police officials were prevented from taking any coercive action but the officials did not bother to comply with the court orders,” said the lawyer.

Meanwhile, the legal officer strongly disputed Khan’s lawyer’s account, insisting that there was no legality in the actions of the police, and asked the court to reject the request of the head of PTI and prevent them from trying to influence and interfere with the investigation process.
