Goa prohibits entry to wildlife sanctuaries and waterfalls

PANAJI, July 12 (IANS) The Goa government has banned entry of people to all wildlife sanctuaries and waterfalls in the state after the recent deaths of two people.
Two people had recently drowned at the Mainabe Waterfall in Netravalli, Sangwem.
The no-entry order was issued by Omakant, Additional Principal Forest Conservation Officer and Chief Wildlife Warden, Omakant on Tuesday.
The decision states that due to continued heavy rains in the state and high water current in rivers in forest areas, public entry to all wildlife sanctuaries and waterfalls is prohibited until further orders.
She added that deputy rangers have been instructed to review and report on the situation.
