LOS ANGELES, April 16 (IANS) Author George RR Martin shared why he didn’t want the new Game of Thrones movie titled “Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” and not “Dunk & Egg.”

A prequel series from the mind of George R.R. Martin based on a series of novels centering around a future Lord Commander of the Kingsguard named Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire known as the Egg. Many fans have referred to this series as “Dunk & Egg” but Martin shared on his blog about why he chose a different title, according to Deadline.

The working title will be Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Knight of the Hedge. Whether that will be the final title I can’t say for sure other than to say that it won’t be called Takes of Dunk & Egg or The Adventures of Dunk & Egg or Dunk & Egg, Martin wrote in his recent blog post.

Martin continued, “I love Dunk and I love Egg, and I know fans refer to my short fiction as ‘Dunk & Egg stories’, sure, but there are millions of people out there who don’t know the stories and the title needs to interest them, too.” If you don’t know the characters, Dunk & Egg sounds like a sitcom. Laverne and Shirley”.

“Abbott & Costello.” Beavis and Butthead. So no. We want “Knight” in the title. Chivalry and chivalry are central to the themes of these stories.”

The author said that HBO had given the series a full series order and that the script for the show’s first episode had already been written. Martin isn’t sure how many episodes the first season of the prequel series will consist of, but said it “most likely” will be six “although this isn’t specified.”

Martin also explained that developing adaptations of his books takes time, and said that in 2016 he pitched two ideas for the premium network, “Dance of Dragons,” which in time became House of the Dragona and Dunk & Egg. That was seven years ago. (I can hardly believe it Myself). The lesson is that development takes time.”

He added, “I see all these stories on the net about other individuals being killed or abandoned, and I don’t know where they got this stuff from, and it makes me shake my head.” “The Nymeria show is still in development. So is the Sea Snake show. I just had a great week that week, working with the writers. There are others, both live and animated.”
