Excise Fraud: The Court should consider seeing the ED’s supplemental fee sheet of April 24

NEW DELHI, April 15 (IANS) A Delhi court is set to convene on Saturday, April 24 to consider whether to take note of the Enforcement Directorate’s second supplementary charge note filed against Raghav Magunta, Rajesh Joshi, Gautam Malhotra and five companies in the excise policy scam.

Special Prosecutor Naveen Kumar Mata said before the Special Judge Panel, M K Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Court, that investigation is underway to find out the role of the mentioned accused in ECIR and other persons on various allegations.

The emergency section, in the 2,000-page charge sheet, contains statements from witnesses and defendants as well as emails and other data.

Although the investigation agency has yet to charge AAP chairman and former Deputy Prime Minister Manish Sisodia, it has submitted to the court that Sisodia had planted fabricated emails to show that there was public approval of the policy.

During the latest hearing, the investigation agency said that the 60 days given to complete the investigation against Sisodia has not yet expired.

The court then adjourned the case to the next session on April 18.

On April 5, EM notified Judge Special Nagpal that it had found new evidence implicating Sisodia in an alleged excise policy fraud, the investigation at a critical juncture.

The court had extended the AAP leader’s detention until April 17 in this case.
