Aizawl, May 22 (IANS) Police in Mizoram on Monday seized heroin worth Rs 12 crore and arrested one person in this regard, an official said on Monday.
A police officer said that, upon a tip-off, a lorry was intercepted in Tawngtaimual Zemabawk near Aizawl.
The heroin was hidden in 200 boxes of soap from the car.
The 16-year-old assistant truck driver, a resident of Helakandi district of Assam, was arrested in connection with the grab, the police officer said.
The heroin, the impounded vehicle and the detainee were handed over to Pongkaun Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
Heroin was smuggled from Myanmar.
A case has been registered under the Hazardous and Harmful Substances Act.
