Chennaiyin rope in wing Farrukh Chowdhury

CHENNAI, July 11 (IANS) Chennai have signed Mumbai-born winger Farrukh Chaudhary ahead of the upcoming 2023-24 season.
The 26-year-old became Marina Machan’s seventh signing this season. He brings vast experience to the squad, having appeared for three Indian Premier League outfits before and most recently Jamshedpur FC where he spent five seasons.
Chowdhury was part of the senior national team that lifted the SAFF Championship title in 2021 and finished runner-up in the 2018 edition. He has won 14 caps so far.
“I am extremely happy to be a part of Chennaiyin FC, a club that boasts one of the most enthusiastic fanbases. Chowdhury, who also has an international goal to his name, said after he scored against Nepal during a friendly match in 2021.
Chowdhury, who made his debut for Kerala Blasters FC in 2016, has played 76 league matches so far, scoring three goals and six assists. He was also part of ISL’s award winning campaign for Mumbai City Football Club in 2021.
