CHANDIGARH, April 13 (IANS) Hours after four army men were killed inside Patinda Military Station in Punjab, another Jan was reported to have died of a gunshot wound after his service weapon went off accidentally, police said Thursday.
A police station in the camp received a complaint on Wednesday about the death of an army soldier, Lago Raj Shankar, and the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
Al Jawan, who was on duty, died of a gunshot wound to the head, a police official told IANS.
After the killing of the four men, the Indian Army said the search team located the Insas rifle along with the magazine involved in the killing. However, she said no one has been arrested.
And it said in a bulletin on Wednesday evening that “the joint army and police teams will now conduct forensic analyzes of the weapon to confirm more details.”
Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Ajay Gandhi said two unidentified individuals in civilian clothes opened fire on army personnel who were sleeping in barracks early Wednesday, killing four men, adding that 19 INSAS rifle blanks were recovered from the site. .
