An NSA team meets Amritpal’s aides in Dibrugarh Jail

GUWAHATI, April 20 (IANS) A five-member National Security Agency (NSA) team has met nine associates of fugitive radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh in Dibrugarh Central Jail, where they have been lodged since last month.
Also, family members of a prisoner, Daljeet Singh Khalsi, a cadre of Amritpal’s Waris Punjab De (WPD) group, came to Dibrugarh Central Jail.
Police sources said they were not accompanied by the National Security team.
A source close to Dibrugarh Central Jail said that Khalsi’s wife is also in the jail to meet him.
The NSA team was led by Retired Judge Shabhol Hassanein, Safeer Sheokan, Devanshu Jain, Rakesh Agarwal, IGP of Punjab and Rabindir Kaur Bhatti, SP of Punjab Police.
As per jail sources, they went to Dibrugarh Central Jail on Wednesday night and stayed in the jail compound for a few hours.
Meanwhile, the Assam State Police has not released any statement, either about the visit of the National Security Team or the Khasi family members.
