Alex Pereira knocked out Jiri Prochazka in the second round of the main event of UFC 295.
Alex Pereira knocked out Jiri Prochazka in the second round of the main event of UFC 295 and became the new light heavyweight champion. The Brazilian knocked his opponent off his feet with a powerful punch and then finished him off with a series of elbow attacks, leading to the referee stopping the fight.
The UFC 295 gala is behind us, during which we watched not only the fight of the Pole – Mateusz Rębecki, who submitted Roosevelt Roberts in the first round, but also an extremely exciting fight of the evening, in which Alex Pereira fought for the light heavyweight championship belt against Jiri Prochazka.

While the first round went at a calm pace, the second part of the championship fight was much more crazy. Everything happened a minute before the bell ending the second round. Prochazka missed his charge and was hit by Pereira’s powerful left punch. The Czech slumped down, grabbing the Brazilian’s leg, but it was too late – a few elbows that landed on the side of his head turned out to be decisive, and the referee decided to stop the fight. Interestingly, Prochazka even lost consciousness for a moment, which only justifies the decision of Marc Goddard, who was present in the octagon.
Alex Pereira won the UFC light heavyweight belt after seven fights in the American organization. Let us recall that in July 2023, Pereira made his debut in the light heavyweight division, competing against Jan Błachowicz. The Brazilian won by split decision of the judges.
