A male tusk corpse was found at UP’s Bijnor
BAYNEUR (Uttar Pradesh), July 12 (IANS) The body of a 12-year-old man has been found in Birkida district of Barhapur forest in Uttar Pradesh Bijnor, a forest official said.
The area where the body was found is near Jim Corbett Park.
According to the locals, the elephant looked weak and strayed a lot in the sugarcane fields.
Sources said Jumbo was seriously ill, and the locals informed the jungle team but no action was taken.
Meanwhile, Bareilly District Chief Conservation Officer Vijay Singh, Najibabad District Forestry Officer Ashutosh Pandey and Sub-division Forestry Officer Jitendra Singh visited the spot where the body was found.
Forest authorities have ruled out poaching.
SDO Jitendra Singh said, “The jumbo teeth were found safe and there were no signs of infection on the body. The viscera have been sent to IVRI Bareilly for examination. The investigation is ongoing.”
