A historic promotion is coming. Six years ago they played in the district league. Here is the second league table
Radunia Stężyca was fighting to stay in the second league just a few months ago, and now it is at the top of the league table at the halfway point of the 2023/2024 season. The situation is slightly different in the case of Kotwica Kołobrzeg, which is also fighting for a historic promotion. Here is the second league table.
Almost half of the season in the second league is already behind us. There is only one match left to play in the 17th round of this competition, which at the halfway point has two surprising teams in the first two places – Kotwica Kołobrzeg and Radunia Stężyca. Last season, Kotwica played in the play-offs for promotion to the first league, while Radunia was afraid of staying in this league until the end.
Kotwica Kołobrzeg and Radunia Stężyca are fighting for a historic promotion to the first league
During the 17th round of the second league, Kotwica Kołobrzeg defeated Sandecja Nowy Sącz 2-1 at home, and Radunia Stężyca won 1-0 at home against Stomil Olsztyn. Thanks to this, the team from Kołobrzeg has 33 points and takes first place in the table, and Radunia has 31 points and is in second place. Both teams can, therefore, slowly count on promotion to the first league, and in the 2016/2017 season the team from Stężyce played in the district league.
Both Kotwica and Radunia have never played in the first league in their history. In the 21st century, the club from Kołobrzeg played in the 3rd and 2nd leagues, and returned to the latter in the 2022/2023 season. In the semi-final of the play-offs for promotion to the first league, they lost 1-2 to Motor Lublin. At the halfway point of the season, it is in a good position to gain direct promotion to the back of the Premier League.
At the beginning of this century, Radunia played in the 4th league, but from the 2002/2003 to 2016/2017 season they played in the district league. In 2017/2018 they returned to the 4th league, in the next competitions they were promoted to the 3rd league, and in 2021/2022 they found themselves in the 2nd league. In the same competition, they lost in the semi-finals of the play-offs for promotion to the first league against Ruch Chorzów 0-1. Last season, they played until the end for relegation, and now they can again count on fighting for the historic promotion to the first league.
