A Haryana minister offers help to a child suffering from a rare disease

Chandigarh, May 18 (IANS) Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij has provided financial assistance to a boy diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a rare and life-threatening blood disorder, as his family could not afford the exorbitant cost of treatment.

On hearing of the boy’s condition, the minister released Rs 15 lakh from the National Child Health Scheme.

An official statement said the money was used to cover the cost of treatment and other medical expenses.

The minister’s timely intervention and support gave the boy a new lease on life and brought hope to his family. The boy is undergoing treatment at PGIMER in Chandigarh.

Vij on Thursday handed a second installment check of 5 lakh rupees to the boy and wished him good health.

Earlier, Rs 10 lakh was given for the treatment of the child. The boy and his family members thanked the Minister of Health.

Thanks to the efforts of the Minister of Health, aplastic anemia was included in the National Child Health Program, and now the patient suffering from it can get financial assistance for treatment.
