6 policemen were killed in a car and truck collision in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, April 16 (IANS) Pakistani authorities told the media that six policemen were killed Sunday morning in a collision between a car and a truck in Khuzdar district of Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
Xinhua reported that the accident occurred on the National Highway between Quetta and Karachi in a wad area of the district when a truck coming from the opposite direction collided with the vehicle, resulting in injuries.
Police told the media that rescue teams had reached the site and taken the victims to hospital.
The police said that the police personnel were heading to the Mehwar area of the governorate from Quetta, the provincial capital, adding that they were returning home to attend Eid Al-Fitr after attending a course at the Police Training College.
Road accidents occur frequently in Pakistan, mainly due to poor vehicle maintenance, dilapidated roads, and neglect of road safety measures.
