4 dead and 11 injured in a bomb explosion in Myanmar

YANGON, April 14 (IANS) Four people have been killed and 11 others injured in a bomb blast in Myanmar’s eastern Shan state, the Myanmar State Administration Council’s media team said.
The accident occurred in a parking lot near a park in front of a pagoda in Lashio town of northern Shan state at around 11:45 a.m. local time (0515 GMT), the report said Thursday.
She added that the bomb attack on the eve of the traditional water festival in Thingyan was carried out using a homemade explosive device.
And the New China News Agency (Xinhua) stated that the victims were visitors to the temple, and that the injured included a three-year-old child, adding that the injured were transferred to Lashio Hospital for medical treatment.
A local police officer said that another explosion also took place in Thaketa town of Yangon district on Thursday, and there were no reports of any injuries in the blast.
Operations are underway to locate the perpetrators.
